First Day of Kindergarten

Sorry that it has taken me a whole week to upload these pictures! The basement is now complete and our computer seems to be having a good night...
We survived the first day of Kindergarten with only a few tears. Kylee was in bed Monday night by 8:00 but joined us in our bed at midnight because she was so excited and nervous that she couldn't sleep! The "first day outfit" was all ready and I have to say I think she looked pretty dang cute. Grandma Jo came out and took these cute pictures and even joined us as the school to say farewell! (Thanks grandma!) We arrived only a few minutes early and Kylee joined the other kids on the playground. At 9:15 they called the kids to line up in front of their classroom doors (they have entrances to Kindergarten rooms from the playground) and Kylee was first in line. She waved and said her goodbye's, no tears, no "I'm scared", just plain old goodbye. The doors opened and off she went - that is when my tears started to flow....just for a minute! As the last kid entered the classroom the clouds broke and it started to rain HARD!!!!! So much for my good hair day! The parents and siblings all took off running for cover which meant no more tears. We joined the other parents in the gym for donuts and juice, where they handed out the following poem - and I cried once again!
The First Day
I gave you a little wink and smile
as you entered my room today.
For I know how hard it is to leave
and know your child must stay.
You've been with him for five years now
and have been a loving guide,
but now, alas, the time has come
to leave him at my side.
Just know that as you drive away
and tears down your cheeks may flow
I'll love him as I would my own
and help him learn and grow.
So please put your mind at ease
and cry those tears no more
for I will love him and take him in
when you leave him at my door.
So far Kylee has loved Kindergarten. It has been a fun week for her! Nick is anxious to start Pre-school next week. He really looks up to Kylee and has watched her be involved in Pre-school for the last two years and has been jealous! I am thrilled that he will now have his turn!
The outfits for the next week are already picked out - I am grateful that my next two are boys so I don't have to deal with the clothing fight! I have many cute pictures of Kylee on the first day...keep checking back and I will post them soon.

Finally, I am so proud of you for getting these pictures up. Now I want pictures of the basement. I am so demanding but that is what you look forward to when you live too far to see yourself. Love the pictures of Kylee. She looks so mature! Oh and by the way she was very wound up last night.

I love the pics. she is absolutely adorable! i agree with sarah, we want to see pictures of the basement and I can't wait to hear about Nick's first day. Look at you, you will only have one baby at home a couple days a week! How lucky.

I can't believe our babies are so grown up! Kylee looks darling--you are right. How great that she loves it. I'm hearing that from mothers of girls more than boys this week. I wonder if it's a gender thing.
Congrats on the basement! You're having us over when? :)

Kylee is such a doll!!!! I dread starting school too, thankfully Mason is an early Oct. baby so I don't have to do it for 3 more years. I'm glad you made it! I would love to see your finished basement too!

Look how cute your family is. I am glad you posted on my blog. I am not at Dr. Glades anymore. I start clinicals somewhere else in six weeks but I'm not sure where yet. Keep in touch.
